Professional Counselor, Graduate Certificate

Students who have a master’s degree in counseling and who take 12 or more credits in the department will be eligible for a Georgian Court University Certificate. This is generally done by students who wish to meet licensure requirements for the New Jersey Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). To qualify, students must have 60 credits, of which 45 credits should fall in the following domains:

  • Counseling Theory and Practice,
  • The Helping Relationship,
  • Human Growth and Development,
  • Lifestyle and Career Development,
  • Group Dynamics, Processes, Counseling, and Consulting,
  • Appraisal of Individuals,
  • Social and Cultural Foundations,
  • Research and Evaluation, and
  • The Counseling Profession.

Students  must satisfy at least eight (8) out of the nine (9) domains.
