Nursing, M.S.N. (Informatics, Innovation, & Technology)
The Master of Science in Nursing: Informatics, Technology, and Innovation prepares nurses to lead digital transformation and technology-enabled care delivery across healthcare systems. This program integrates advanced nursing knowledge with informatics, data analytics, artificial intelligence applications, clinical systems design, and innovation science. Graduates are prepared for roles such as nursing informatics specialist, digital health leader, clinical systems analyst, and healthcare innovation strategist.
This program addresses a critical workforce and healthcare systems need for nurse leaders prepared to manage, evaluate, and innovate within increasingly technology-driven environments. Rapid expansion of electronic health records, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, telehealth, and digital health platforms requires advanced nursing professionals who possess both clinical expertise and informatics competency.
Graduates will contribute to improved healthcare delivery systems, organizational performance, and patient-centered outcomes through technology-enabled innovation.
The courses in the program will be taught in a 7-week, asynchronous fully online format. The program is comprised of nine credits of core courses, 21 credits of informatics specialization, and 6 credits of capstone courses. The capstone courses include 200 hours of supervised clinical/practice immersion, coordinated with preceptors and partners such as Hackensack Meridian Health, with flexibility for remote and site-based experiences
Upon successful completion of the program of studies for Nursing, the student will receive an M.S.N. in Nursing Informatics, Innovation, & Technology, and will have given evidence of the following outcomes and goals:
- Integrate nursing theory, systems thinking, and evidence-based practice to guide the design and evaluation of informatics solutions in diverse healthcare settings (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 1 (Knowledge for Nursing Practice), Domain 2 (Person-Centered Care), Domain 4 (Scholarship for Nursing Practice), Domain 5 (Quality and Safety))
- Demonstrate proficiency in health information systems and data management tools to support clinical decision-making, care coordination, and quality improvement (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 6 (Interprofessional Partnerships), Domain 8 (Informatics and Healthcare Technologies), Domain 5 (Quality and Safety))
- Apply ethical, legal, and regulatory principles in the development, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare technology (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 3 (Population Health), Domain 7 (Systems-Based Practice), Domain 9 (Professionalism))
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to lead health system transformation through data-driven strategies and informatics innovation (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 6 (Interprofessional Partnerships), Domain 7 (Systems-Based Practice), Domain 8 (Informatics and Healthcare Technologies))
