Nursing, M.S.N. (Informatics, Innovation, & Technology)

Upon successful completion of the program of studies for Nursing, the student will receive an M.S.N. in Nursing Informatics, Innovation, & Technology, and will have given evidence of the following outcomes and goals:

1. Integrate nursing theory, systems thinking, and evidence-based practice to guide the design and evaluation of informatics solutions in diverse healthcare settings (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 1 (Knowledge for Nursing Practice), Domain 2 (Person-Centered Care), Domain 4 (Scholarship for Nursing Practice), Domain 5 (Quality and Safety))
2. Demonstrate proficiency in health information systems and data management tools to support clinical decision-making, care coordination, and quality improvement (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 6 (Interprofessional Partnerships), Domain 8 (Informatics and Healthcare Technologies), Domain 5 (Quality and Safety))
3. Apply ethical, legal, and regulatory principles in the development, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare technology (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 3 (Population Health), Domain 7 (Systems-Based Practice), Domain 9 (Professionalism))
4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to lead health system transformation through data-driven strategies and informatics innovation (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 6 (Interprofessional Partnerships), Domain 7 (Systems-Based Practice), Domain 8 (Informatics and Healthcare Technologies))
5. Use health policy, safety, and quality frameworks to advocate for equitable and effective use of technology in nursing practice (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 5 (Quality and Safety), Domain 9 (Professionalism), Domain 10 (Personal, Professional, and Leadership Development))
6. Plan, execute, and evaluate an informatics-focused project that addresses a real-world clinical, administrative, or educational challenge, demonstrating leadership in nursing informatics (AACN Essentials Domains: Domain 4 (Scholarship for Nursing Practice), Domain 7 (Systems-Based Practice), Domain 10 (Personal, Professional, and Leadership Development))

Requirements for Admission

To be admitted to the MSN in Nursing Informatics, Innovation, & Technology program, students must meet the following requirements:

• Possess an earned Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., health sciences, information technology, or business) will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Hold an active, unrestricted RN license in the United States (preferably New Jersey, but licensure in other states will be considered).
• Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants with a lower GPA may be considered on a case-by-case basis with additional supporting materials (e.g., professional experience, certifications).
